Vikings' Cam Akers: Falls back to four touches Sunday
Akers totaled three carries for 19 yards and one catch (on one target) for six yards during Sunday's 30-27 win at Chicago.
Akers has been a part of the Vikings offense in four consecutive contests, but his touch count Sunday was the fewest during that stretch after earning 14 in Week 10 at Jacksonville and 12 last Sunday in Tennessee. The elevated usage for Akers in the previous two games may have been spurred by the rib injury that Aaron Jones suffered in the first of those outings, but the latter racked up 25 touches for 129 yards from scrimmage and a rushing TD in Week 12, indicating he's more or less back to his status as Minnesota's unquestioned top RB. As a result, Akers could be relegated to a distant No. 2 option behind Jones moving forward.

Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: Breaks out against Bears
Hockenson recorded seven receptions on nine targets for 114 yards in Sunday's 30-27 overtime win over the Bears.
Hockenson gained a combined 112 yards in his first three games of the season, though he had an explosive performance in Sunday's win with three receptions of at least 20 yards. It was also his first 100-yard performance since Week 10 of the 2023 season. The Vikings talked up Hockenson's role heading into Sunday's matchup, particularly with Josh Oliver (ankle) sidelined, and he should start to see a more consistent role moving forward.

Vikings' Aaron Jones: Tops 100 yards on ground
Jones rushed the ball 22 times for 106 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 overtime win over the Bears. He added three receptions on four targets for 23 yards.
Jones returned to full practices for the first time since suffering an injury to his ribs in Week 10, and he bounced back from a poor Week 11 effort. He accounted for two of Minnesota's longest plays from scrimmage with rushes of 41 and 13 yards, with the former marking his most explosive run of the campaign. That led to Jones topping 100 rushing yards for the second time this season. His two-yard touchdown plunge late in the third quarter also marked his first trip to the end zone since Week 7. Jones' return to health also minimized Cam Akers' role in the offense, making Jones a reliable fantasy back moving forward.

Vikings' Jordan Addison: Enjoys career day
Addison recorded eight receptions on nine targets for 162 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 overtime win over the Bears.
Addison posted both the highest yardage and reception total of his career against a Bears secondary that has regularly shut down opposing wide receivers. He did the majority of his damage on receptions of 69 and 45 yards, and he showed impressive balance for a long run after the catch down the sideline on the former play. Addison also found the end zone for the second consecutive game on a two-yard catch early in the second quarter. While Justin Jefferson will remain the top priority in the Minnesota offense, Addison's performance shows the ability to make opposing defenses pay when they focus on taking Jefferson out of the game.

Vikings' Justin Jefferson: Quiet in OT win
Jefferson recorded two receptions on five targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 30-27 overtime win against the Bears.
Sam Darnold ripped through the Chicago secondary to record seven completions of at least 20 yards, making Jefferson's line even more disappointing. He did have a 40-yard touchdown nullified late in the fourth quarter by offensive pass interference on an apparent pick play. Jefferson has now failed to reach 100 receiving yards in three consecutive contests.

Vikings' Sam Darnold: Picks apart Bears with deep balls
Darnold completed 22 of 34 passes for 330 yards wtih two touchdowns and zero interceptions in Sunday's 30-27 overtime win against the Bears.
Darnold crushed the Bears with deep pass attempts, as he tallied three completions of at least 40 yards and seven of at least 20. That led to his first 300-yard passing game of the season, though he was aided by overtime to get there. Darnold also tacked on passing scores from two and five yards away, marking his fourth multi-touchdown effort in six games since Minnesota's bye. After a brief shaky stretch, Darnold has returned to form as a solid fantasy contributor.

Rypien (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bears but will serve as the Vikings' emergency third quarterback.
