  • Cowboys' Luke Schoonmaker: Solid in expanded role

Schoonmaker secured three of four targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys' 34-26 win over the Commanders on Sunday.

Schoonmaker finished second in receiving yards on the Cowboys for the afternoon while stepping into the top tight end role for Jake Ferguson (concussion). The second-year Michigan product had already proven worthy of an expanded role in the Week 11 loss to the Texans after Ferguson went down, recording a 6-56 line on 10 targets. While he managed only half that catch total Sunday, he nearly matched the receiving yards and added his first touchdown of the campaign on a 22-yard scoring grab just past the midway point of the fourth quarter. Schoonmaker could remain in the same role for the Cowboys' next game, which is a Thanksgiving Day home battle against the Giants on Thursday that Ferguson could be hard-pressed to be ready for.

  • Cowboys' Cooper Rush: Produces solid numbers in win

Rush completed 24 of 32 passes for 247 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and netted one yard on four rushes in the Cowboys' 34-26 win over the Commanders on Sunday. He also fumbled once but recovered.

Rush was able to put together a successful, turnover-free encore to his season-high 354-yard tally on Monday night against the Texans, posting his first multi-TD tally in the process. The veteran backup connected for both of his scoring tosses in the second half, hitting Jalen Tolbert (six yards) and Luke Schoonmaker (22 yards) with end-zone strikes in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. Rush may be settling into a rhythm now that he's gotten a few games under his belt, and he'll head into a Week 13 Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Giants with momentum on his side.

  • Cowboys' Rico Dowdle: Garners 98 total yards in win

Dowdle rushed 19 times for 86 yards and brought in all three targets for 12 yards in the Cowboys' 34-26 win over the Commanders on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.

Dowdle operated as the unquestioned lead back, as backfield mate Ezekiel Elliott logged only three carries. The former fittingly parlayed his second-highest carry total of the season into his second-highest rushing yardage tally, and he also extended his streak of multi-catch efforts to six games. Dowdle heads into a favorable Thanksgiving Day home matchup against the Giants with a secure grip on the top job in Dallas' ground attack.

  • Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb: Busy day in wild win

Lamb brought in 10 of 12 targets for 67 yards and rushed once for one yard in the Cowboys' 34-26 win over the Commanders on Sunday.

Lamb led the Cowboys in receptions, receiving yards and targets on a day when he was atypically contained to mostly short-area targets. The talented wideout still clawed his way to a fantasy-relevant effort while once again displaying plenty of chemistry with fill-in quarterback Cooper Rush, and the duo has now connected on 18 occasions for 160 yards on 24 pass attempts over the last two games. Lamb projects to remain heavily involved in a Week 13 home matchup against the Giants on Thanksgiving Day.

  • Cowboys' Chauncey Golston: Returns to Sunday's game

Golston has returned to Sunday's Week 12 contest against the Commanders after temporarily exiting in the first quarter due to dehydration, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Golston went to the locker room briefly but was able to re-enter the game in the second quarter. He made a big play soon after his return, ripping the ball out of Washington running back Brian Robinson's grasp for an interception that he advanced 18 yards.

  • Cowboys' Chauncey Golston: Exits due to dehydration

Golston is questionable to return to Sunday's Week 12 game against Washington due to dehydration, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Golston headed to the locker room in the first quarter and was subsequently deemed questionable to return. The fourth-year pro has been a staple on Dallas' D-line of late, logging at least 82 percent of the team's defensive snaps in four straight contests following the Cowboys' Week 7 bye. Carl Lawson and Marshawn Kneeland could get increased work if Golston is unable to return Sunday.

  • Cowboys' Chuma Edoga: Active for Week 12

Edoga (toe) is active for Sunday's game against Washington, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Edoga opened the regular season on injured reserve due to a toe issue, but he will make his 2024 debut Sunday after logging full practices all week. With Zach Martin (ankle) and Tyler Smith (ankle) both ruled out, Edoga could be inserted into the starting lineup for Sunday's NFC East contest.

  • Cowboys' Tyler Smith: Won't play Week 12

Smith (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Smith suffered an ankle injury during the Cowboys' Week 11 loss to the Texans. He opened the week with consecutive DNPs, and while he was able to practice Friday in a limited capacity, it wasn't enough for him to play Sunday. Smith's next chance to suit up will be Week 13 against the Giants on Thursday, Nov. 28. T.J. Bass is likely to start at left guard Sunday due to Smith's injury.

  • Cowboys' Marshawn Kneeland: Making return Sunday

Kneeland is not among Dallas' inactives for Sunday's Week 12 game against Washington, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Kneeland missed the Cowboys' last five games following knee surgery, but he was activated off IR on Saturday and is set to suit up against the Commanders. The rookie's workload had been inconsistent prior to his injury, as he had logged between 17 percent and 55 percent of Dallas' defensive snaps over the first four weeks. Kneeland will likely continue to play a rotational role now that he's back in action.

  • Cowboys' Caelen Carson: Healthy scratch for Week 12

Carson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest versus the Commanders, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Carson has started five games for Dallas this season, but he worked only on special teams last week against Houston and won't take the field at all in Week 12. His reduced role comes as DaRon Bland is set to make his season debut Sunday against Washington after missing the Cowboys' first 10 games while working his way back from a foot injury. It's still a bit surprising to see Carson as a healthy inactive, though, given that fellow cornerback Trevon Diggs is out for the matchup due to a groin issue.

  • Cowboys' Deuce Vaughn: Not playing Week 12

Vaughn (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Vaughn will be a healthy scratch for the second time in the past three weeks, leaving Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott to handle the work in Dallas' backfield along with fullback Hunter Luepke. Vaughn has been inefficient as a ball carrier in his limited opportunities this season, gaining just 33 yards on 11 carries while adding 18 yards on three receptions.
