The defensive pair of Walman and Cody Ceci was on the ice for the Sharks' two goals and none of the Sabres' tallies. With four points over five contests since he returned from an upper-body injury, Walman doesn't appear to have lost a step. The defenseman is at two goals, 11 helpers, 53 shots on net, 29 blocked shots, 16 hits and a plus-4 rating over 18 outings this season while seeing top-pairing minutes.

Those two forwards have been centered by Alexander Wennberg in recent contests, making for a veteran trio to absorb tougher minutes while freeing up Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith for easier assignments. Kunin has two goals, five shots and 15 hits over his last four contests. The 26-year-old remains in a bottom-six role, though he's done a decent job of contributing depth scoring and physical play. Kunin's production limits his fantasy value to deep formats that reward non-scoring numbers.

Zetterlund had been held off the scoresheet in the previous two games. He's had some trouble generating chances, posting just three shots on net over his last five outings, which will certainly take the wind out of his sails on offense. Blackwood stopped 27 of 30 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Blackwood was decent, but he allowed two goals in the third period to squander a 2-1 lead. The 27-year-old netminder lost back-to-back starts in regulation for the first time since late October, which is a testament to just how good he's been for a last-place team. Overall, Blackwood is at a 4-7-3 record with a 3.07 GAA and a .907 save percentage through 14 appearances. The Sharks' homestand continues Monday versus the Kings.

Celebrini notched two assists in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Blues.
Celebrini banked secondary helpers on Alexander Wennberg's fourth and fifth goals of the season in the loss. Celebrini added three shots, two takeaways and a plus-1 rating in 23:48 of ice time. The British Columbia native turned the puck over four times in the loss, but he seems to be gaining the trust of head coach Ryan Warsofsky -- Celebrini's 23:48 of ice time in the contest was the most of any Shark and a season high for the highly-touted rookie. Celebrini has accounted for four goals, three assists and a minus-3 rating through 10 games.

Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Stays hot in defeat
Granlund distributed two helpers Thursday in a 3-2 shootout loss to St. Louis.
Granlund registered the primary assist on each of Alexander Wennberg's markers. Granlund is on a four-game point streak consisting of two goals and four assists, and he's easily been San Jose's most consistent player on offense. The 32-year-old has been held off the scoresheet just seven times through 22 games, an impressive feat for a player on a team that is projected to finish towards the bottom of the standings. The left-shot Finnish forward leads the Sharks in points by a wide margin -- Granlund has nine goals and 15 assists, which is eight points more than any of his teammates.

Wennberg scored twice, once on the power play, in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Blues.
Wennberg scored on the power play in the opening frame before tying the score at 2-2 with just nine seconds left in the third period to send the game to overtime. The Swedish forward could be turning the corner on offense -- he's registered multi-point outings in two of his last three games. Wennberg has compiled five goals, six assists, four PIM, 29 shots, 18 blocks, 13 hits and seven takeaways through 22 contests.

Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Solid in 2024-25 debut
Askarov made 29 saves on 31 shots in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Blues.
Askarov got off to a less-than-ideal start in his debut with the Sharks, allowing a goal just 11 seconds into the contest, but he settled in as the game went along. The 22-year-old currently has a chance to earn a role in the crease while Vitek Vanecek tends to an upper-body injury. Askarov inked a two-year deal with San Jose after being acquired in a trade from Nashville in August. Through four NHL appearances, the 22-year-old is 1-1-1 with a 2.38 GAA and a .921 save percentage.
