Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Supplies helper Saturday
Lapierre managed an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Devils.
Lapierre assisted on a Matt Roy goal in the first period. The Capitals have played 11 times in November, and Lapierre has been a scratch four times, so it doesn't look like he has the full trust of head coach Spencer Carbery. He was in the lineup over winger Jakub Vrana in Saturday's game -- part of the issue with Lapierre's play in 2024-25 has been his 35.8 percent win rate at the faceoff dot, but he won't be needed as a center following the Capitals' trade for Lars Eller. Lapierre has three assists, 13 shots on net, nine blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 14 appearances, and his path to more playing time may come as a middle-six winger.

Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Dishes apple in loss
Sandin registered an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Devils.
Sandin was credited with the primary helper on Matt Roy's first goal of the season at 13:52 of the first period. Sandin has been productive in November, getting on the scoresheet in seven of 11 contests, including a five-game point streak between Nov. 8-17. Health permitting, Sandin is on his way to a career year. He's up to three goals, eight assists and a plus-16 rating over 20 appearances.

Capitals' Matt Roy: Scores first of season in loss
Roy scored an even-strength goal in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Devils.
Roy opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the first period of Saturday's loss. The right-shot blueliner missed 10 games earlier in the campaign due to a lower-body injury, but he's offered steady production while skating alongside Rasmus Sandin in a top-four capacity. Roy has points in three of his last six games, and overall, he's notched a goal, three assists and a plus-3 rating through 10 appearances.

Capitals' Connor McMichael: Back on scoresheet in loss
McMichael deposited a goal on the man advantage in Saturday's 3-2 loss to New Jersey.
McMichael had been held off the scoresheet in three consecutive contests after having a five-game point streak snapped, but he got back on track with his second power-play marker of the season Saturday. The left-shot forward is well on his way to shattering the 33 points he produced across 80 regular-season appearances in 2023-24, and he should be able to reach the 30-goal mark after finding the back of the net 13 times through 20 games. McMichael has 20 points (seven assists) and a plus-11 rating this season while logging a career-high 17:19 of ice time per game.

Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Valient effort in loss
Lindgren stopped 30 of 33 shots in Saturday's 3-2 loss to New Jersey.
Lindgren allowed just one goal at even strength, but New Jersey's lethal power play cashed in twice Saturday. The Devils rank second in the NHL in power-play percentage, so Lindgren can hardly be faulted for his performance. The Minnesota native has been solid overall this season -- he hasn't allowed more than three goals in a game since his first appearance of the campaign. The 30-year-old is sporting a 5-5-0 record, .901 save percentage and 2.64 GAA through 10 outings while splitting starts between the pipes with Logan Thompson.

Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: First off ice Saturday
Lindgren is slated to guard the home goal versus New Jersey on Saturday after being the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Devils play-by-play announcer Matt Loughlin reports.
Lindgren has won his last two starts, allowing four goals on only 45 shots in victories over Colorado and Utah. Lindgren is 5-4-0 with a 2.59 GAA and a .900 save percentage in 2024-25. The Devils rank eighth in the league with 3.45 goals per game.

Capitals' Tom Wilson: Bags apple Thursday
Wilson registered an assist while logging 21:55 of ice time during Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Wilson has managed six assists in his last 10 games but has not scored a goal since Oct. 31 after notching six goals in his first four games to open the season. The 30-year-old winger is meshing well with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Connor McMichael on the second line and has a healthy 14 points in 19 games so fantasy managers shouldn't fret the lack of goal-scoring for now.

Capitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Lights lamp Thrsday
Dubois tallied a goal and three shots during Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Dubois ended a 12-game goal-scoring drought with his first period marker and now stands at two goals and 13 points in 19 games to start the season with his new team. The 26-year-old is emerging as an invaluable two-way player for the Capitals and some positive regression in the goal-scoring department is all that is needed for Dubois' fantasy appeal to reach another level.

Capitals' Trevor van Riemsdyk: Dishes helper
Van Riemsdyk tallied an assist and two shots during Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Van Riemsdyk bagged an apple on the Capitals' lone goal, giving him three assists in his last four games. The 33-year-old has been a valuable shutdown presence during his four seasons with the Capitals but is currently on pace to smash his career-high of 23 points set during the 2022-23 season.

Capitals' Logan Thompson: Saddled with loss
Thompson turned aside 25 of 27 shots faced during Thursday's 2-1 home loss to the Avalanche.
Thompson put together another solid performance, but the Capitals struggled to light the lamp in their first game since losing captain Alex Ovechkin (calf) to long-term injury. The 27-year-old Thompson has put together a strong start to his first season with Washington, but he will need to get back in the win column to separate himself from Charlie Lindgren and secure the top spot on the Capitals' depth chart.

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Out 4-6 weeks with fractured fibula
Ovechkin, who was previously listed as week-to-week with a lower-leg injury, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks because of a fracture to his left fibula, the Capitals announced Thursday.
Ovechkin suffered the injury when he collided with Jack McBain during Monday's 6-2 victory over Utah. The 39-year-old Ovechkin was off to a fantastic start to the campaign with 15 goals and 25 points in 18 appearances, including five goals over his past two outings. He's also just 26 markers away from matching Wayne Gretzky for the all-time lead in goals. Andrew Mangiapane is projected to move up to the top line alongside Dylan Strome and Aliaksei Protas during Ovechkin's absence. Ivan Miroshnichenko was recalled from AHL Hershey on Wednesday and is set to make his NHL season debut Thursday versus Colorado.

Capitals' Logan Thompson: Starting against Colorado
Thompson will start Thursday's home game against the Avalanche, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Thompson was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, but he was also late getting onto the ice and appeared to be in some discomfort. He appeared to tweak something during Sunday's win over the Golden Knights, but he specified after Thursday's morning skate that he's "all good" and will be between the pipes against the Avalanche. Thompson has been effective over the first month and a half of the season, posting an 8-0-1 record, 2.63 GAA and .913 save percentage over nine appearances.

Capitals' Ivan Miroshnichenko: Recalled by Washington
Miroshnichenko was recalled from AHL Hershey on Wednesday.
Miroshnichenko was left off the Capitals' Opening Night roster this year, but he's had a solid start to the season at the AHL level, tallying seven goals and 14 points over 16 appearances. The 20-year-old will rejoin the NHL club to provide depth while Alex Ovechkin (lower leg) is on injured reserve. Miroshnichenko appeared in 21 games for Washington last year and logged two goals, six points and 50 hits while averaging 12:08 of ice time.

Capitals' Sonny Milano: Moved to LTIR
Milano (upper body) was shifted to long-term injured reserve Wednesday, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.
Milano remains without a clear recovery timeline -- though this move will keep him out for at least the rest of November -- and the team could use the cap space now that Alex Ovechkin (lower leg) was placed on injured reserve. Even once cleared to play, the 28-year-old Milano was struggling to get into the lineup ahead of Jakub Vrana, so don't be surprised if Milano ends up on waivers or even in the minors later in the campaign.

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Lands on IR
Ovechkin (lower leg) was designated for injured reserve Wednesday.
Ovechkin's placement on IR shouldn't come as a surprise considering he was deemed week-to-week by the Caps on Tuesday. After managing just 31 goals last season -- a low mark given his lofty standards -- the elite winger was rolling to open the 2024-25 campaign with 15 goals in 18 contests. It's not only a blow for Washington but for Ovechkin, who looked to be closing in on the all-time goal-scoring record held by Wayne Gretzky (894).
