Dach had one shot on net, one hit and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
Dach's most notable contribution was a giveaway in his own end that resulted in Vegas' second goal. He's now gone 12 games without lighting the lamp, and much of that stretch came while he pulled shifts on the top line. The 23-year-old forward eventually skated on the fourth line in the final period. Dach has one goal, seven assists, 36 shots, 40 hits, 13 blocks, 10 PIM with a team-low minus-15 rating over 20 outings.

Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: Slips to fourth line
Slafkovsky had four hits with a minus-4 rating in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
It was a tough night for Slafkovsky, who extended a goal-less streak to 13 games. A poor decision in the second period led directly to a 2-on-1 rush that resulted in Vegas' third goal. It was similar to the decision he made a week ago that got him benched for a stretch against the Blue Jackets. Slafkovsky and Kirby Dach -- whose careless turnover in his own end led to Vegas' second goal -- were both pulling shifts on the fourth line in the third period.

Anderson had an assist and five hits in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Vegas.
Anderson picked up the secondary helper on Jayden Struble's goal that made it a 5-2 game in the third period. Hits are a big part of Anderson's game, as the five he meted out Saturday put him atop the club with 50. He's also picked up his scoring pace of late, as Saturday's helper was his fifth point in the last seven outings.

Armia had a power-play assist and three hits in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Vegas.
Armia was patient with the puck until he had a passing lane to Emil Heineman for Montreal's first goal. It was the third assist in the last three games for Armia, who has nine points, 26 shots, 25 hits, 12 blocks, 12 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 20 games outings.

Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Helps twice in loss
Gallagher had a power-play and even-strength assist in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Vegas. He added three shots, a block and two hits.
Gallagher had the secondary helper on Emil Heineman's power play marker before picking up the primary assist on Jayden Struble's tally. It has been a renaissance season for the 32-year-old Gallagher, whose two helpers gave him 10 points over the last 12 outings.

Struble scored a goal on one shot, blocked one shot and delivered one hit in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
Struble snuck up toward the net and took advantage of a rebound to score his first goal of the season. The third-pair defenseman has four points and three assists through 14 outings after recovering from an upper-body injury that cost him the first five games of the year.

Heineman scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Vegas.
Heineman slightly shifted his position to open a passing lane for Joel Armia, who fed the rookie for Montreal's first goal. It was the fourth tally of the season for Heineman and his second on the power play. He skates in a bottom-six role at even strength and has three power-play points despite limited ice time during man-advantage situations.

Primeau replaced starter Sam Montembeault for the third period of Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
For the third time this season, Primeau replaced an ineffective Montembeault, who gave up five goals in the second period. Primeau faced just three shots, giving up a goal to Jack Eichel. Montembeault is ripe for being replaced as the No. 1, but Primeau sports an ugly 4.59 GAA and a disappointing .842 save percentage through eight appearances.

Montembeault allowed five goals on 25 shots before being pulled after two periods in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Vegas.
Montembeault, who won three of four outings with a .966 save percentage going into Saturday's game, started well with a scoreless first period before it all came apart. The Golden Knights capitalized on sloppy play in front of the goalie in the second period, putting five pucks past him on 13 shots. Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis had seen enough and replaced him with Cayden Primeau to start the third period. The 28-year-old Montembeault hasn't finished the game three times in 15 starts. The Canadiens' next matchup is Tuesday at home against Columbus.

Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Between pipes Saturday
Montembeault will defend the home crease versus Vegas on Saturday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Montembeault is coming off a 30-save shutout over the Oilers on Monday. He is 6-8-1 with a pair of shutouts, a 2.85 GAA and a .906 save percentage in the 2024-25 campaign. Vegas is first in the Pacific Division with a 12-6-2 record.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Skating with teammates
Laine (knee) took the ice in a non-contact sweater Wednesday, making his first time skating with teammates since suffering his knee injury in September, Sportsnet reports.
Laine's timeline hasn't changed, with the 26-year-old winger expected back sometime in December given his 2-3 month recovery. Still, it's a step in the right direction for the Finn, who was undoubtedly eager to put together a bounce-back 2024-25 campaign after seeing action in a mere 18 games last year. Once Laine rejoins the lineup, he should push for roles on both the first line and No. 1 power-play unit.

Canadiens' Rafael Harvey-Pinard: Designated for loan assignment
Harvey-Pinard (leg) was reassigned to AHL Laval on a long-term injury conditioning loan Tuesday.
Harvey-Pinard has been skating with the team since the start of November but has yet to get into an actual game while working his way back from a broken leg suffered in July. Considering the 25-year-old winger saw action in only 45 regular-season contests last year, he is far from a lock for the Habs' lineup even once given the all-clear. Still, it's a step in the right direction for Harvey-Pinard to link up with the Rocket for several minor-league contests.

Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: Rebounds from benching
Slafkovsky had two shots, one block and one hit in Monday's 3-0 win over Edmonton.
Slafkovsky's name was not on the scoresheet, but he was the primary reason for Montreal's first goal. Late in the second period, he intercepted a pass in his own zone, which initiated a rush. Then, his dogged forecheck behind the net prompted another Edmonton turnover, leading to Brendan Gallagher's tip-in goal to give the Canadiens a 1-0 lead. It was a nice moment for the 20-year-old Slafkovsky, who was benched for a 10-minute stretch between the second and third periods of Saturday's win over the Blue Jackets.

Matheson recorded an assist, one shot on net and one block with a plus-3 rating in Monday's 3-0 win over the Oilers.
Matheson's harmless-looking shot from the boards was redirected by Brendan Gallagher to give Montreal a 1-0 lead with 29 seconds remaining in the second period. It was the third time in the last four outings that Matheson has made the scoresheet. He's tied for the team lead with 12 assists. Repeating last season's career-high 62 points may be too much to expect, but the blueliner is on pace to reach 50.

Suzuki had an assist, four shots on net and one block in Monday's 3-0 win over Edmonton.
The Oilers pulled their goalie with close to five minutes left and were pressing, but Suzuki was able to break up a pass that led to Jake Evans' empty-net goal to seal the win. The helper was Suzuki's sixth point over his last four games, and the captain leads the team with 19 points (12 assists).

Savard, who missed Saturday's game due to an upper-body injury, took regular shifts on the second pair and sacrificed his body. The three blocks leaves him tied with Mike Matheson for the team lead at 48 through 18 appearances.

Caufield did the heavy lifting to set up Montreal's second goal. His hip check dislodged a puck in the Edmonton end and led to a quick, in-tight passing sequence that resulted in a Kaiden Guhle tally. Since moving to the second line four games ago, Caufield has two goals and three assists, pushing his point total to 16 through 19 outings.

Evans scored an empty-netter from his own end, sealing the Canadiens' second consecutive win. He's tallied in both victories. Earlier in the game, he and new linemate Cole Caufield assisted on a Kaiden Guhle goal. Evans has four goals, six assists, 23 hits, 12 blocked shots, 19 shots on net and four PIM over 19 appearances.
